Repower E-Bike Tour
From Gressoney-Saint-Jean to Colle Bettaforca
Between alpine lakes, Walser villages, forests and breathtaking views of Monte Rosa, this e-MTB route crosses some of the most fascinating places in the Lys Valley.
An itinerary designed for those who wish to experience the mountains sustainably and with complete freedom, thanks to the DINAclub charging network by Repower available along the entire route.
The tour connects the historic centers of Gressoney-Saint-Jean and Gressoney-La-Trinité, reaching Staffal and, for more experienced riders, the spectacular viewpoints of the Chapel of Sant'Anna and Colle Bettaforca.
Starting Point: Weissmatten Parking Area
The tour begins at the Weissmatten Parking Area, a large free parking lot located at the entrance to Gressoney-Saint-Jean, the ideal place to leave your car and start your e-bike adventure.
From the parking area, follow the main road towards the town center until reaching Bar Sport, where you will find the first DINAclub charging station along the route.
Shortly afterwards, a bridge allows riders to leave the main road and follow a quiet secondary road that passes through some of the most characteristic areas of the village. This section runs alongside the fields that, during the summer season, host the famous Samstag Märt, Gressoney's traditional Saturday Market.
Every week, local farmers and producers offer visitors the fruits of their work: freshly harvested vegetables, berries, honey, artisanal biscuits, bread, cheese, organic wines and many other specialties from the Lys Valley. It is a wonderful opportunity to discover the authentic flavors of the region and learn more about the valley's agricultural traditions.
Continuing along the local road, riders reach the charming Lake Gover, one of the most iconic and beloved landmarks of Gressoney-Saint-Jean. From here, the route crosses the historic center of the village, featuring traditional Walser architecture, picturesque corners and traces of local history.
Additional DINAclub charging stations are available in this area, near Lake Gover and at the bus stop in the historic center.
Leaving the village behind, the route follows Trail No. 15 towards Gressoney-La-Trinité, crossing forests, meadows and beautiful landscapes at the foot of the Monte Rosa massif.
Gressoney-La-Trinité and Walser Culture
Arriving in Gressoney-La-Trinité offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of one of the most characteristic Walser villages in the Alps.
At the heart of the village, in Piazza Tache, stands the Walser Ecomuseum, a key destination for discovering the history, traditions and architecture that have made this alpine community unique.
From the historic center, the route continues along the village road, passing the chapel located opposite the grocery store and crossing some of the most charming areas of the town.
Near the bridge by the playground, another DINAclub charging station is available at the bus stop, ideal for ensuring enough battery power to comfortably complete the rest of the itinerary.
Those who do not require a stop can continue along Trail No. 9, a pleasant gravel path that follows the Lys stream and offers beautiful views of the water and surrounding mountains.
From Bätt to Staffal
Following the course of the stream, riders reach the hamlet of Bätt, where the landscape opens into alpine meadows and traditional Walser buildings.
From here, the route climbs back towards the main road before continuing along the local road leading to Staffal, the main gateway to the Monterosa Ski area.
The environment gradually becomes more alpine, and the Monte Rosa Glacier dominates the horizon, accompanying riders along one of the most scenic sections of the valley.
In Staffal, another DINAclub charging station is available at the bus stop, making it the perfect place to take a break before tackling the climb to higher elevations.
The Climb to the Chapel of Sant'Anna
For those seeking a more adventurous experience, the most demanding section of the route begins in Staffal.
Following the stream, riders reach the Residence delle Marmotte, where a gravel road begins and gently climbs along the route that, during winter, becomes the Murmeltier sledding track.
The ascent winds through larch forests and wide alpine pastures, crossing Pian delle Rane and offering increasingly spectacular views over the Gressoney Valley.
Continuing onward, riders reach Alpe Sitten and the picturesque Chapel of Sant'Anna, one of the most appreciated panoramic spots in the entire valley. From this natural balcony, visitors can enjoy stunning views over Gressoney-La-Trinité, the Walser villages and the impressive peaks surrounding the Monte Rosa massif.
It is the perfect location for a photo stop and to admire the landscape before the final stage of the excursion.
Conquering Colle Bettaforca
More experienced riders can continue beyond the Chapel of Sant'Anna by following the gravel road leading to Colle Bettaforca.
Along the way, the route passes the Sitten Mountain Hut, where the final DINAclub charging station of the itinerary is located. This valuable service allows riders to comfortably tackle the last kilometers of the ascent.
The route continues through high-altitude alpine terrain, featuring mountain pastures, open landscapes and magnificent views over both the Gressoney and Ayas valleys.
Reaching Colle Bettaforca represents the highlight of the experience. Here, the panorama opens onto the mountains of the Monterosa area and the peaks marking the border between the Aosta Valley and Piedmont, offering one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the entire region.
